Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 8, 2026

Sumspace is a local-first personal finance application. It does not require a Sumspace account and does not include advertising, cross-app tracking, or an analytics SDK.

Financial data

Expenses, categories, notes, asset names, balances, quantities, dated asset history, and settings are stored in the application's local database on the user's device. Sumspace does not send this financial data to a proprietary Sumspace server.

When iCloud is available, Apple CloudKit may synchronize application data through the user's private iCloud database. Apple processes that data under Apple's terms and privacy policy. The user controls iCloud through iOS or iPadOS settings.

Market and exchange-rate requests

For informational cryptocurrency prices, the application sends only selected public CoinMarketCap asset identifiers to the Sumspace Market API hosted on Cloudflare. It does not send asset quantities, balances, group names, purchase prices, expenses, notes, or an application account identifier. The service keeps a shared cache of public market metadata and prices.

For currency conversion, the application sends currency codes and requested dates to the Frankfurter exchange-rate service. It does not send transaction amounts, categories, or notes.

Cloudflare, CoinMarketCap, and Frankfurter may process technical request data, such as an IP address, as necessary to provide and secure their services under their respective policies.

Imports and backups

Imported files are processed on device. Backup and export files are created only at the user's request and are saved to a location chosen through the system file picker. The user is responsible for protecting exported files.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains until it is deleted in Sumspace or the application is removed. iCloud-synchronized data is managed through the user's Apple Account and iCloud settings. Sumspace has no separate server account to delete.

Children

Sumspace is a general-audience personal finance utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when Sumspace's data practices change.
